Overview
Jamf Connect is the new tool that allows our Mac users to login with their Okta password, and then updates the computer password when and if you ever update your Okta password.
Here's a guide for how to login either for the first time on a new computer, or how to link your existing login info with your Okta account.
You will only need to do this 1 time. Every time you reboot after this you'll only have to select your account and enter your password, just like before.
Logging In
- Enter your full email address and Okta password
- A Window will pop up with your MFA options. We recommend using the Okta Push, but there are others available if you need them.
- After a pause (it will feel like a long time, but we promise it's still working) you will be prompted to enable FileVault. Click Enable Now.
- (If you click cancel, the computer will reboot and you'll have to repeat steps 1-3)
- Next you'll see a message about Remote Management. Click Enroll.
- Next you'll be asked to select a time zone.
- You can select the Set time zone automatically... option. If you do, you'll be asked to Turn On Location Services. Or you can manually select the city from the drop down instead. (This won't ask you about turning on the location services)
- Next an End User License Agreement (EULA) pops up. Read this and check the box at the bottom to agree, then click Next.
- Now you'll be asked to register your computer.
- Fill in the fields on the form.
- The Barcode is either the 4 digit number from the Aspen sticker somewhere on your computer, or the string of characters and numbers on the sticker on the bottom of your computer. If you have neither, leave this blank.
- Program Abbreviation: If you're unsure, make your best guess. Most programs are pretty simple.
- Building: This is the office you are connected to. There's an option for people who are entirely remote.
- Department: Select the best fit. It's okay if this isn't 100% accurate.
- Have you ever logged into this computer before?
- No - You're all done! Just wait for the software to finish installing, then click the Get Started button when it appears.
- Yes - If you already had a user/account on the computer, it will next ask you which account is yours so it can connect it to your Okta account.
- Once you've selected your account, it will ask for your "local account password". This is the one you've been using to login to your computer.
- After confirming the account, you'll be taken to your desktop and you'll be able to login with your Okta account going forward. The old password will no longer work.
- You're done!
